Amazon.com Product Description Built specifically for business road warriors, the corporate class IBM ThinkPad T30 is a thin, light notebook that will help you get the job done, wherever you roam. And because it's been factory reconditioned, it's a great value. It features a battery-sipping 1.8 GHz Pentium 4-M (Mobile) for long battery life while away from the office and the Windows 2000 operating system. Weighing just under 6 pounds and measuring 1.5 inches thin, this notebook also features a 40 GB hard drive, 256 MB of installed RAM, a bright 14.1-inch screen, and a removable DVD-ROM drive. The Basics - Hard Drive: Since the focus is on affordability, this T30 comes with just a 40 GB hard drive. While this may have sounded gigantic at one time, it is one of the smallest hard drives you'll find in a desktop computer. That said, it offers more than enough room for home office productivity software, storing family photos, and a decent-sized digital audio library.
- Processor: The 1.8 GHz Intel Pentium 4-M (Mobile) processor offers enough speed for your work today, though it's speed lags behind what is available in contemporary notebooks with this processor (May 2005). Thanks to its Mobile features, the processor can save power when its not needed, thus conserving battery life.
- Memory: The 256 MB of installed RAM will get you started, but you'll want to add more to handle any kind of multimedia application and most business productivity suites. This notebook has a 1 GB maximum RAM capacity.
- CD/DVD Drive: The DVD-ROM drive enables you to access CDs and DVD movies while on the road. It's also removable, so you can travel even lighter.
- Keyboard & Mouse: This notebook has a standard 86-key keyboard and electro-static two-button touchpad.
Screen, Graphics and Sound Video and graphics are powered by the ATI RADEON 7500 card (AGP 4x) with 16 MB of video RAM, which provides a maximum resolution of 1024 x 768 pixels on the 14.1-inch screen and 2048 x 1536 pixels on an external monitor. It also features an integrated Sound Blaster 16/Pro-compatible audio card with headphone and microphone jacks. Connectivity and Expansion Slots The T30 is loaded with just the basics (i.e., no wi-fi) for external connectivity: - 2 USB 2.0 ports for connecting a wide range of peripherals--from digital cameras to MP3 players
- 1 VGA monitor port
- 1 Serial port
- 1 Parallel port
- 1 infrared port
- 1 S-Video out
- 2 PCMCIA (or PC Card) slot (Type I/II)
- 1 headphone jack
- 1 microphone jack
It also has an integrated 56K modem (V.90) and an RJ-45 LAN network port (for a 10/100 Gigabit Ethernet connection to networks and DSL/cable modems). Preloaded System and Software This ThinkPad T23 comes with the Windows 2000 operating system, which is outdated in the world of XP but is still a fairly powerful system. Dimensions and Weight Perfect for portability, the T30 weighs 5.7 pounds and measures 12 x 9.8 x 1.5 inches (WxDxH). Power It's powered by a lithium-ion rechargeable battery that has up to a 3.2-hour battery life. What's in the Box This package contains the IBM T30 236641U factory reconditioned notebook PC, rechargeable lithium-ion battery, AC adapter, and operating instructions. It is backed by a 6-month limited hardware warranty.

Pleasantly Surprised October 11, 2005 toollover123 (Bad Nauheim, Germany) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I was actually quite pleased with this item. Everything that was mentioned in the description was there. It started right up and arrived on time. I was a little anxious about buying anything used, even if it was remanufactured, but so far I have had no issues. It almost looks brand new. The only thing that I don't like so far is the battery life. But that is something I can live with.
Not bad but not sure if it's worth the effort October 2, 2005 Husain A. Al-mohssen (cambridge,ma) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
The notebook is built like a rock. with a lot of nice little features (love the light that allows you to type when it's totally dark). I dropped it a couple of feet and nothing happend .... One problem: it's a bit slow with only 256MB RAM and the wireless drivers are pretty bad without upgrading. When you upgrade from the Thinkpad webpage it is usable but still buggy. As a DVDplayer/remote terminal it is a nice deal.
