| Customer Reviews:
It isn't meant for everyone, but if you need a portable PC with more power than a smart phone then it is perfect for you. July 28, 2008 Anonymous (United States) This PC is perfect for what it is meant to do, and if you require a PC smaller than a laptop but you need more than a smart phone -the OQO is a candidate. +Weighs a pound with the standard battery. +A gorgeous screen, bright and vivid and exceeds many LCD's on full sized Vaio's. See it for yourself if you can find a floor model for sale in the store. +Backlit keyboard had a stylish blue and white hue. +Integrated EVDO modem is blazingly fast for true mobility and connectivity. Some caveats about the device: -The CPU can seem slow if you try to gank it with too many tasks, ours can run MS Excel, and Word and PowerPoint in presentation mode and along with Firefox 2.x and IE 7. You should max out the RAM to multitask it. -The fan this thing can spool up and make noise, not enough noise to wake up the sleeping baby but enough to wake up the sleeping house cat in the same room. A PC this small generates heat and the fan does a decent job of venting it out. -The keyboard will challenge anyone who isn't accustomed to a Blackberry or smartphone keyboard, the keys are tactile and we rarely have a double type while the spacing is enough to minimize typo's unlike a Blackberry 8800 style keyboard where. -Avoid Vista on this thing, it is obscenely slow. -Skip XP Tablet PC option, the handwriting recognition is lousy unless you're already accustomed to MS Character Recognizer. YOU CAN'T GET MS BLOCK RECOGNIZER (PALM GRAFITTI) on XP Tablet since MS disabled it in SP2. The screen is still touch sensitive with the stylus and can be used to press common dialog box buttons. -Be prepared to buy the damage protection warranty, inevitably it will get dropped and the repair bill is more than the cost of the warranty.
Do Not Purchase This Flawed Device June 24, 2008 Richard E. Tullie (Palm Beach County, FL) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I own a Model 02 OQO. It has a "motherboard flaw" that causes it to lock up and not work. Customer service told me that they are "aware of the problem" and that "I saw one like it yesterday." Worst of all, THEY SAID IT WILL TAKE TWO MONTHS TO FIX THE PROBLEM BEFORE THEY SHIP IT BACK TO ME FROM TEXAS. They added: "We don't have an exchange or refund policy." Do not waste your money on this flawed device.
