The Eee PC also handles your digital images, movies, and music as well as Internet radio.
No technical manual required with the specially designed, user-friendly, and intuitive graphic interface. | Compact and highly portable at just 32 ounces, the Eee PC 4G has a 7-inch wide color TFT LCD with an 800 x 480-pixel resolution (WXGA). Under the hood is a 900 MHz Intel Mobile CPU with integrated Intel graphics processor, 512 MB of RAM (not expandable), and 4 GB of solid-state flash memory. With the dependable solid-state disk, you get unparalleled shock-protection and reliability. In addition to its wireless LAN, it also offers wired Fast Ethernet connectivity. The Eee PC includes software for Web browsing (Firefox), email, OpenOffice 2.0 for creating and editing word processing documents and spreadsheets, and a suite of other productivity software to help keep you on track. You get three USB 2.0 ports, a VGA output for connecting to external monitors, headphone and microphone jacks, and a Secure Digital (SD) memory card slot. The Eee PC measures 8.9 x 6.5 x 1.4 inches, and it weighs 32 ounces. The 4-cell, 5200 mAh battery provides up to 3.5 hours of battery life (depending on usage). Works for Mac Users July 24, 2008 1CHD (MD) I am a Mac user and consider myself technically challenged. I bought the 4G Surf model to use mostly for a portable writing device and for emails. I wanted something with a keyboard that was bigger than any PDA on the market. (I hate thumb texting.) I also wanted something that would easily fit in my daily-use tote bag. I hesitated ordering this device, because I wasn't sure if I could easily transfer Word documents between my Mac world and this little device (Open Office word processing). It works flawlessly. I save a doc to my jump drive and plug it into my Mac, click to open and No problems. I can edit a doc on my Mac, and later open it on my Asus, and again, no problems. I agree with other reviewers that it really starts up fast, and is super easy to use, even for the technically challenged. The ONLY reason I didnt give it 5 stars, is that Im sure I dont even know how to make the most of all its features. So this is really more about my ignorance than about any fault with the PC. I LOVE this little PC and wish I hadnt waited so long to purchase it.
Asus July 17, 2008 Jeanne Taggart (CA) We love our Asus, and carry it with us most of the time. It sits on the kitchen counter ready to go whenever I need it. Great to have.
Asus Eee PC July 13, 2008 Nadine Boulanger (Sarasota, FL USA) This item is great for someone who wants to access email while on the road, surf the internet and work on some files. It is very light weight. If your not familar with Linux then there is a learning curve. That for me was the only down side. Battery life is approx. 2 hrs on a full charge. Boots quickly and screen quality is great.
Fantastic Product...with one minor drawback July 7, 2008 Shawn C. Pursley (Atlanta) I bought this product for my wife (she is in sales) and she loves it. The only drawback I can find deals with my complete ignorance of the operating system (Linux). The system runs great...but I have no idea how to update it or even link it to my home network (windows). Each time I try to read up on it...I come away more confused. Don't get me wrong..the spreadsheet, and word processing is extrememly similar to Excel and Word. Easily saved and sent wirelessly through email to our home computer. The thing works seamlessly...but as soon as I try to deviate from those simple task I run head first into not being familiar with Linux at all. This is really a criticism that deals with my lack of knowledge...but if I had realized how hard it would be to run (or not be able to run) and executable file...I would have opted to have it pre-loaded with windows XP. For now...she will keep using it (and loving it) and I will have to hope I can find time to figure out the operating system.
Love my EEE PC! July 5, 2008 J. Temple (Athens, GA USA) I've had this little computer over a month now and I LOVE it! It's ultra-portable and so lightweight. The keyboard is small, but so am I. I can see, however, how it might be difficult for someone with bigger hands to type on the small keyboard. It doesn't have much extra room, but I bought an 8gb jump and that works fine for storing my pictures and documents. I mostly use the computer for internet, email, and some homework. I have had no problems with the wireless connection. My classmates think it's really cool. So do I! I would give it 5 stars, but because it doesn't have much storage I'm giving it 4. By the way, I also have a MacBook Pro, but I don't ever carry it to school because it's bulky. I can put this computer in my purse, or in the small front pocket of my backpack.
